THE BIRDS OF SUMMER

The Birds of Summer series took flight with the seagulls and pigeons of Brighton. These seagulls were no ordinary birds; they were predatory comedians of the skies. They'd swoop down on unsuspecting girls in the street, snatch food from the hands of people leisurely strolling along the pier, and strike poses on street corners and car roofs as if they were the rulers of the seaside domain. They had a knack for finding disabled parking spots strangely alluring and perched fetchingly on lampposts, as if they were part of an avian photoshoot. The pigeons, on the other hand, had their own quirky charm. They'd engage in comical squabbles over scraps of food litter and playfully fly at pedestrians' heads, turning everyday walks into unexpected aerial adventures. I was captivated by their antics. It was a friend who introduced me to the magic of the live button, showing me how to use it to add an extra dash of life to my photos. From that moment on, I was hooked. I began capturing motion sequences, preserving memories of my encounters with these feathered comedians by collecting coasters, flight tickets, and even decorative napkins. When I turned my lens to the pigeons of Leuven, they became the lively stars of my next bird scene, each one a character in this avian theater of life.
